With its latest partnership, Reef Technology has entered the Covid-19 antibody testing business following expansions of its ghost kitchen and last-mile delivery services.
The Miami-based company, formerly ParkJockey, has partnered with BioReference Laboratories to launch pop-up testing sites across the nation, starting at the Miami International Mall.
As opposed to testing efforts detecting who is infected with the new coronavirus, antibody tests detect proteins produced in the blood after fighting off the virus.
The facility at 1455 N.W. 107th Ave. in Doral, which tests patients for antibodies for the novel coronavirus, opens Mondays through Saturdays at 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s in the parking lot between JCPenney and Khol’s and will be there for the next two months.
Patients can register online at BioReference.com starting May 21 and schedule an appointment if their test request is approved.
BioReference Lab is the subsidiary of Miami-based biotech Opko Health (Nasdaq: OPK) and has testing has labs in New Jersey, Texas and Melbourne. The company joined the national effort to test U.S. residents for Covid-19 in March.
Reef Technology is backed by SoftBank.
The companies are working on more sites across the U.S. to expand antibody testing, but have not confirmed their next locations.
